Both Beavers and Cubs restart this week (11th Beavers, 10th Cubs) with the Scouts starting last week.
Can I please remind you that Subs are due at the start of each term, and the there are various ways to pay (cash/cheque, or electronically)
Also please remind your young people about behavior at the meetings, and again remind them about bullying! It is not tolerated at all!
Section programmes will be handed out shortly and I can already see there are lots of exciting programme/activity ideas. Please help your leaders where you can, so if you spot a evening you think you can help, please contact the leaders, and come along.

Looks like the Scouts had a great camp at Warren Farm.
Thanks to all the leaders for running the Camp, and a special mention to Nick, who took a tumble on the first Saturday whilst setting up the camp.
After a visit to A&E in Haywards Health, Nick was sent home with crutches and told to rest. Get Well soon NICK!
You are invited to the 2nd Southwick Group Barbeque & AGM that will take place in the Head Quarters on Wednesday 5th June. All family and friends are invited. Please arrive at the hall before 7:00pm – the meeting will start at 7:00pm sharp.
As part of the AGM we want to fill you in on what has happened over the past year and what we would like to do. Your thoughts and ideas are very welcome.
We always need the support of more parents in the Group and it’s a great opportunity to be part of the Scouting movement and do something good in your local community. Sadly our Group Secretary is unable to continue with us as her son is playing for a major football team, so we require a group Secretary, can you help 4 – 5 meetings a year taking notes and putting your thoughts forward, also parent representatives from Beavers, Cubs and Scouts to put their thoughts on how we progress in the future.
After the AGM business, there will be Burgers and Sausages together refreshments and cakes, donations welcome.
We all look forward to meeting you.
Chair of Second Southwick Scout Group.
On 28th April, all the scout groups of Adur Valley, including 2nd Southwick, attended a celebration of St George the Patron Saint of Scouting on Southwick Green.
The weather was kind, no rain much, just a passing shower.
The celebration kicked off with the renewal of our Promises, followed by various activities on the Green ranging from a bouncy castle to cooking, and various “fun-fair” activities.
A big thank-you for all those who attended, it was much appreciated.
We’ve recently had some issues at 2nd Southwick Scout Group regarding bullying.
This is NOT acceptable, and any individuals found bullying other individuals in ANY section will be asked to change their behavior or leave the group.
Scouting policy can be found here: Anti–Bullying Policy in Scouting
If your or your child have any questions regarding this, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org

The numbers are in, and I’m pleased to announce that all sections are doing well.
The Beaver numbers are still increasing, and the Scouts number are also going up. Cub numbers are static at the moment, which is credit to the Cub Leaders, as we’ve had a dip in young people numbers coming up from the Beaver Colony, but we have seen an increase in “new” young people coming into Cubs. I predict that Cubs will be in the twenties soon! Well Done!
We have also gained a new Assistant Cub Scout Leader!
