Both Beavers and Cubs restart this week (11th Beavers, 10th Cubs) with the Scouts starting last week.
Can I please remind you that Subs are due at the start of each term, and the there are various ways to pay (cash/cheque, or electronically)
Also please remind your young people about behavior at the meetings, and again remind them about bullying! It is not tolerated at all!
Section programmes will be handed out shortly and I can already see there are lots of exciting programme/activity ideas. Please help your leaders where you can, so if you spot a evening you think you can help, please contact the leaders, and come along.

You are invited to the 2nd Southwick Group Barbeque & AGM that will take place in the Head Quarters on Wednesday 5th June. All family and friends are invited. Please arrive at the hall before 7:00pm – the meeting will start at 7:00pm sharp.
As part of the AGM we want to fill you in on what has happened over the past year and what we would like to do. Your thoughts and ideas are very welcome.
We always need the support of more parents in the Group and it’s a great opportunity to be part of the Scouting movement and do something good in your local community. Sadly our Group Secretary is unable to continue with us as her son is playing for a major football team, so we require a group Secretary, can you help 4 – 5 meetings a year taking notes and putting your thoughts forward, also parent representatives from Beavers, Cubs and Scouts to put their thoughts on how we progress in the future.
After the AGM business, there will be Burgers and Sausages together refreshments and cakes, donations welcome.
The numbers are in, and I’m pleased to announce that all sections are doing well.
The Beaver numbers are still increasing, and the Scouts number are also going up. Cub numbers are static at the moment, which is credit to the Cub Leaders, as we’ve had a dip in young people numbers coming up from the Beaver Colony, but we have seen an increase in “new” young people coming into Cubs. I predict that Cubs will be in the twenties soon! Well Done!
We have also gained a new Assistant Cub Scout Leader!
At the beginning of December, the Cubs and Scouts helped with collecting money for the Adur East Lions Club. This involved walking round the streets of Southwick with Santa and his slay, collecting money for the various charities around Southwick. whilst the Beavers visited the Romans Nursing Home in Southwick, and sang a few carols.
There was a good turn out on both events
Closer to Christmas , we did our annual Bag Packing and collection buckets, this time at Marks & Spencer’s in the Holmbush Centre.
We did exceptionally well in our ten hours, and both the Leaders and Committee are very pleased with the young peoples efforts.
Last Wednesday (27th) we held our annual Christmas fun walk, and this year we were lucky with the weather
We had a good turn out of friends and family of the group, enjoying a calorie burning walk, whist having some fun.
A BIG THANK YOU for all those who have supported our events over the last month. It’s much appreciated.
Thank you to all those who took part in the Group Sponsored Walk in aid of revamping our Climbing Wall.
We gathered at the Group’s headquarters, and at just after 10AM, we left for the “wilderness”.
The Scouts, Cubs and Beavers (plus parents/family) made their way up the downs, passing “Rest and be thankful” over Southwick Tunnel onto the open down-land, where we stooped just past the trig point on Southwick Hill for a group photo and refreshments!
From here the beavers headed back to the hut for hot dogs and drinks, but the Cubs and Scouts continue on round the “block” for a 4 mile walk.
Beavers were fed first at the hut,. closely followed by the Cubs and Scouts.
A great morning, and we were exceptionally lucky with the predicted rain.
Again thank you for all those who took part, and we will let you know who much we raised all together.
