Whilst the scout hut has not been in use,” we” have been busy refurbishing the kitchen.

Its nearly done, so much cleaner, more storage and better for eveyone. Cant wait to use it again with the Sections return to Face to Face Scouting.

Well done to Nick and Stan for their very hard work.

Scouts suspended!

   |   By

Dear Parents,

CORONAVIRUS and Scouting

It is with much regret that the leaders and I have decided to suspend Scouting at 2nd Southwick Scout Group for the time being.

This is in accordance with Government “Everyone should avoid gatherings and crowded places”

We will readdress the situation over the Easter period.

Please let other parents know, and please take care.

Andrew Spring | Group Scout Leader | 2nd Southwick Scout Group

AGM – 7pm 5th June

   |   By

Dear Parents/friends,

You are invited to the 2nd Southwick Group Barbeque & AGM that will take place in the Head Quarters on Wednesday 5th June. All family and friends are invited. Please arrive at the hall before 7:00pm – the meeting will start at 7:00pm sharp.

As part of the AGM we want to fill you in on what has happened over the past year and what we would like to do. Your thoughts and ideas are very welcome.

We always need the support of more parents in the Group and it’s a great opportunity to be part of the Scouting movement and do something good in your local community. Sadly our Group Secretary is unable to continue with us as her son is playing for a major football team, so we require a group Secretary, can you help 4 – 5 meetings a year taking notes and putting your thoughts forward, also parent representatives from Beavers, Cubs and Scouts to put their thoughts on how we progress in the future.

After the AGM business, there will be Burgers and Sausages together refreshments and cakes, donations welcome.

We all look forward to meeting you.

Mark Dooley

Chair of Second Southwick Scout Group.

St George’s Day 2019

   |   By

On 28th April, all the scout groups of Adur Valley, including 2nd Southwick, attended a celebration of St George the Patron Saint of Scouting on Southwick Green.

The weather was kind, no rain much, just a passing shower.

The celebration kicked off with the renewal of our Promises, followed by various activities on the Green ranging from a bouncy castle to cooking, and various “fun-fair” activities.

A big thank-you for all those who attended, it was much appreciated.

All looking very Smart 🙂

Work has started on Garden

Work has started on the Garden, with the trees (Apple,Pear and Plumb) being planted today. Also work started on the new areas, and placement of the raised beds ready for flowers and fruit.

The fruit trees, plus a wildlife habitat (left of the drain cover under some protective wood, with frog spawn!)
One of three raised beds completed
New fire area ready for some concrete, plus a tidy lawn.

Leaders at Work!

Thank to everyone who helped.

Christmas Activities

   |   By

Over the last month we have been very busy.

At the beginning of December, the Cubs and Scouts helped with collecting money for the Adur East Lions Club. This involved walking round the streets of Southwick with Santa and his slay, collecting money for the various charities around Southwick. whilst the Beavers visited the Romans Nursing Home in Southwick, and sang a few carols.

There was a good turn out on both events

Closer to Christmas , we did our annual Bag Packing and collection buckets, this time at Marks & Spencer’s in the Holmbush Centre.

We did exceptionally well in our ten hours, and both the Leaders and Committee are very pleased with the young peoples efforts.

Last Wednesday (27th) we held our annual Christmas fun walk, and this year we were lucky with the weather

We had a good turn out of friends and family of the group, enjoying a calorie burning walk, whist having some fun.

A BIG THANK YOU for all those who have supported our events over the last month. It’s much appreciated.

Remembrance Sunday 2018
