St George’s Day 2019

   |   By

On 28th April, all the scout groups of Adur Valley, including 2nd Southwick, attended a celebration of St George the Patron Saint of Scouting on Southwick Green.

The weather was kind, no rain much, just a passing shower.

The celebration kicked off with the renewal of our Promises, followed by various activities on the Green ranging from a bouncy castle to cooking, and various “fun-fair” activities.

A big thank-you for all those who attended, it was much appreciated.

All looking very Smart 🙂

Bullying at 2nd Southwick

We’ve recently had some issues at 2nd Southwick Scout Group regarding bullying.

This is NOT acceptable, and any individuals found bullying other individuals in ANY section will be asked to change their behavior or leave the group.

Scouting policy can be found here: Anti–Bullying Policy in Scouting

If your or your child have any questions regarding this, please email me at

Sunday 22nd April

This time last week we were preparing for our St George’s Day celebration, and what a contrast in weather! I think soup would be appropriate today 🙂

Here are a couple of photos of the day, showing the lovely sunshine we had!

It was an amazing venue, that I never knew existed, back onto the downs.

Quayside Recreation Ground Refurbishment

   |   By  |  0 Comments

I’m not sure if parents/friends of the group are aware, but Adur Council is planning to “refurbish” Quayside recreation ground, including doing some ground works/landscaping, plus improving the playground area. There are a couple of notices on the fence by the bottom gate.

Adur Council are running a consultation meeting on April 12th at Quayside between 2:30 and 4:30 open to anyone whose interested. Please have a read of the following poster from Adur Council.

Quayside – Final Consultation Poster

PLEASE NOTE: During the last week of Phase One of the works we will have no access to our hut, and we will have to make alternative arrangements. This may include either meeting somewhere else, or cancelling the respective sections evenings programme.

The Section Leaders will keep you posted.

On Sunday 24th September, the Cubs took part in the Annual Supereme Box Kart Championships held at Goodwood Racecourse.

This is hugely popular event run by some Cub Scout Leaders from Chichester, and was originally intended to be a practice day for the 2008 West Sussex County Championships, but in 2016 became the only International Championship for Cub Scouts.

It’s a long day, with races starting ar 10AM, aand comprising of 12 heats per team! That’s a lot or running.

10 Cubs from 2nd Southwick took part and had a great, but tiring day.

Please find some picutres of the day here.
